Christmas - when I was a child

When I was small Christmas was fantastic! Every year someone run away and cry ( usually that's me ) but he/she came back and all family have fantastic Christmas!
Every year my parents told me that I had to took a shower before we ate our meal. When I did it, I went to the living room and under christmas tree were presents. I was really sad, because I wanted to see Santa Claus ( now I know that they told me that I must be clean because they have to took presents under the tree ). Of course, I couldn't open my presents before the fist star appeared in the sky. Sometimes adults had big fun because it was embrun. Finally they premit and told me that I could open my presents. I was really happy because I waited all year for this moment. I didn't write here about family meal because I don't remember next to nothing. For small children in the christmas time most important thing are presents and maybe felling, that they're safety.
I love Christmas and giving presents for my close relative. I like when they're happy. I think that's all about christmas when I was a child.

Write to Santa Claus

Merry Christmas!

Snow, Snow, Snow !

I love snow and make snowmen, but I don't like when it's cold. Snow it's precipitation. Snowflakes usually look like white tiny stars but they're look like dentrites, columns, plates and needles too. We can say that it is small ice-creams. Snows only when temperature is under 0°C. Snow crytals 'are born' in the clouds when water freezes.

I don't really know why snow is white and why glaciers are blue but I find information that it's because ice in the snow are much smaller than that of the glaciers and light bounce out of snowflakes so it looks white but in the glacier the light refracts less often so the light will pass through more ice before it escapes again, so any weak colour in the ice will be a lot more obvious [ this tense is from http://www.thenakedscientists.com/ because I don't know how to write it ].
But snow isn't always white. Yes it is usually white but not always. For example in February 2007 in regions of Western Siberia scientist saw yellow snow ( colour snow usually isn't natural at 100 % e.g. higher I wrote about yellow snow, it was coloured by dust from Central Asia ).

In Melbourne snow has been recorded but it's very seldom. There is too hot but in Australian Alps snows every year from June to August, so when we have hot summer and holiday[!].

Past Perfect

Czasu Past Perfect używamy:
- Jako czas zaprzeszły, kiedy podkreślamy, że jedno zdarzenie z przeszłości miało miejsce wcześniej niż drugie:
e.g. When we arrived at the stadion the train had already left.
[Kiedy przybyliśmy na stację pociąg już odjechał] - odjazd pociągu miał miejsce wcześniej niż przybycie na stację.
- Do wyrażania czynności, która miała miejsce przed określonym czasem/momentem w przeszłości:
e.g. We had finished our tests before 10 o'clock.
[ Skończyliśmy pisać testy przed godziną 10 ]
- Do wyrażania planów, postanowień, zamiarów, które nie doszły do skutku
e.g. He had hoped to see her again.
[ On miał nadzieję, że znowu ją zobaczy ]
- W zdaniach warunkowych - trzeci okres warunkowy a także zdania z "wish" oraz z "because" by wyjaśnić okoliczności/powody zdarzenia:
e.g. If I had studied for the exam, I would have passed it.
[ Gdybym uczył się do egzaminu, zdałbym go ]
He wishes he hadn't bought her the engagement ring.
[ On żałuje, że kupił jej pierścionek zaręczynowy ]
He was OK because he had put his helmet on properly.

Budowa zdania:
had + imiesłów bierny ( past partipicle )

Forma skrócona:
I'd | You'd | he'd | she'd | we'd | they'd

Przykłady zdań w czasie Past Perfect:
- zdania twierdzące :
I had gone to Warsaw.
They had gone to Warsaw.
- zdania pytające :
Had I gone to Warsaw?
Had They gone to Warsaw?
- zdania przeczące (hadn't = had not):
I hadn't gone to Warsaw.
They hadn't gone to Warsaw.

Czas Past Perfect łączy się z czasem Past Simple.
e.g. She had spent a lot of time in hospital and needed to do exercises.

Czasu Past Simple używamy do mówienia o zdarzeniach, które wydarzyły się kiedyś, często w określonym czasie i aktualnie nie mających większego znaczenia. Czasu Past Perfect tzw. zaprzeszłego używamy do wyrażania czynności poprzedzających inne czynności - gdy jedno wydarzenie z przeszłości miało miejsce wcześniej niż drugie ( wspomniałam o tym powyżej ). W takim przypadku wydarzenia wcześniejsze występują w czasie Past Perfect zaś wydarzenia następujące po nich w czasie Past Simple ( przykłady powyżej ) .

Heinrich Schliemann

Heinrich Schliemann (he was born on 6th of January 1822 in Neubukow (Germany)-he died on 26th of December 1890 in Naples (Italy))was an archeologist and an advocate of the historical reality of places mentioned in the works of Homer. He discovered Troya and Mycenae. I don't write in this post about his archeologist career.

Heinrich Schliemann was prominent polyglot - autodidact. He know many languages like Eanglish, French, Portugal, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Old - Greek, Polish, Dutch, Latin, Arabian and of course his native language - German. He though that when someone want to learn new language he/she must speak laud with other people or to him/herself. Of course, when he was learning new language he speak laud and his neighburs weren't happy. He must change his flat twice. He didn't like speak to himself so he pay some money person who listen to him. This person usually didn't understand what Heinrich said, but it wasn't problem for Schliemann. I think his method for learning languages is very good because when we speak to other people we can learn more than do boring grammar exercises.

I learn three foreign languages - English, German and Russian and my native language - Polish. I have english and german at school but after school I have english lessons too ( twice a week ). Russian learn me my mother ( I was born in Belarus - my mother family comes from there ).
I very like learn other languages but I hate grammar. I know that I must learn grammar but I don't like it. When I talk with other people e.g. in Russian I am very happy that they understand me and that I understand their - it give me big satisfaction. I think that in these days we must know many languages - it help us to communicate!

Death Valley National Park

This National Park is in California and partially in Nevada. In the valley air there is very high temperature - - reaching for 50°C. Since 31st of October 1994 Death Valley has been a National Park in USA.
In this Park we can find many highlights, for example: Racetrack Playa- dried salty lake, Artists Palette - it is a group of rock in center of Death Valley characterized by unusual paints, Charcoal Kilns – stoves for burning out wood carbon. Charcoal Kilns were built in 1867.

In the area of Death Valley National Park live many sorts of wild animals, for example: canadian sheep, pumas, mulakas and russet lynxes.
I think it's important to have national parks because there can live threatened sorts of animals and people could learn a lot about them.

Beautiful World

World is beautiful - buildings, forests, rivers. For me nature is really beautiful and just people. I love forests, canyons, oceans, seas and other exquisite things but in our world there are bad things too. We shouldn't see only bad things, for example poverty, earthquakes or tsunami. We must be happy and gay! It is helping us to survive.
The world is amazing. We can travel and see sculptures, phenomenona of nature. We can learn something about cultures of other countries. My dream is travel around the world and see all its secrets. I hope that my dream will come true.

Elvis Aaron Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley - He was born in 8th of January 1935 in Tupelo. He was the best American singer in 20th century. People said that he was "The King of Rock 'n' Roll". He wrote many beautiful songs, for example: "I got a woman", "Heartbreak Hotel ", "Teddy Bear". He played many concerts. He was addicted to some medicines. He died from heart attack in 16th of August 1977 in Memphis. I think that Presley's fate was inherent in his nature. His fans love him so much - they don't believe that Elvis died. People said many legends about Presley - for example that he must be leading a quiet life somewhere. Today many newspapers write about Presley’s house - where he “propably” lives now. He is really The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll – maybe he died but his music is still alive. Many people which didn’t live in 20th century love his music now. He was, he is and he will be “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”.

Extreme place

The Antarctica is the region around the Earth's South Pole. The name of Antarctica comes from Greeks and it means 'opposite to Arctica'. It's the biggest desert in the world. 98 % of Antarctica is covered by ice. It's the coldest continent. Minimum temperatures are between -50 °C and -90 °C in winter, and the maximum are between 5 °C and 15 °C in summer. There live many penguins, seals, whales und dolphins. Antarctica has no permanent residents. There live only animals or scientists who work in special stations, for example Wostok. In winter at these stations live 1000 people can live but in summer it is about 4000. Anterctica is a very beautiful but cold place.
